Urban Insights Inc. was founded and is led by Ryan O. Mounsey, a seasoned professional planner with more than 25 years of experience in both the public and private sectors across Ontario. 

As CEO and Managing Principal, Ryan provides strategic leadership for the firm and brings expertise that spans municipal planning, economic development, housing strategy, urban design, and development approvals. 

Over his career, Ryan has built a deep foundation in the public sector, serving for over 20 years in leadership roles with the City of Kitchener, City of Waterloo, and the Region of Waterloo. In these roles, he was instrumental in guiding major urban design, housing, and redevelopment projects that have helped shape the growth of one of Canada’s fastest-growing regions.  In the public sector, Ryan held various roles including Site Plan Chair, Strategic Advisor and Manager of Economic Development.

Earlier in his career, Ryan worked in the private sector as a consultant, gaining direct experience across 33 Ontario municipalities. This breadth of exposure provided him with a unique understanding of both large urban centres and smaller communities, giving him the versatility to address planning challenges of all scales.

Today, as CEO and Managing Principal of Urban Insights, Ryan continues to draw on this blend of public and private experience to deliver innovative, credible, and implementable solutions for clients.

Urban Insights Inc. is a small but mighty firm anchored by the contributions of Marko Micic, whose skills and energy are helping to shape the company’s growth. As an Associate Partner and Associate Planner, Marko is gaining extensive experience across a wide range of planning and development projects, establishing himself as a core member of the team.

Marko brings a unique blend of graphic visualization talent and exceptional research and analytical abilities, which allow him to advance development applications, policy initiatives, and client projects with clarity and precision. His ability to translate complex planning concepts into accessible visuals and evidence-based reports makes him an invaluable contributor to Urban Insights’ work with municipalities, clients, and stakeholders.

As the firm continues to grow, Marko’s role as Associate Partner underscores his importance to the long-term success of Urban Insights. His combination of technical skills, creativity, and commitment to excellence ensures that he is not only a key part of the team today, but also an emerging leader in the field of planning.
